Newcastle United will look to recruit promising young players with the potential for high resale values in the future, according to the Chronicle.
The Magpies are currently without a manager after Rafa Benitez left the club at the beginning of the month, and they are yet to make any acquisitions in the transfer window.
It is understood that managing director Lee Charnley has returned to the UK after a spell in Europe this week, and is working on finding a new boss with head of recruitment Steve Nickson.
The priority is to land a candidate who will fit into the club’s transfer strategy – namely young players they can sell for sizeable profit.

This is just another example of what is wrong with Newcastle United at the moment. Ordinarily, signing youth would be a good thing, but the fact that everything is viewed through the prism of financial gain means that it is hard not to view the Toon Army’s dealign with a degree of cynicism. The Magpies are in dire straits at the moment, and they need to be signing players who can help them steady the ship and get through the next few months. That will require experienced heads. That doesn’t mean going out and signing players over the age of 30, but it also means that you cannot stick blindly to a transfer policy that is going to be dictated to whoever takes the reins at St. James’ Park. Mike Ashley doesn’t want a manager, he wants a puppet, and the club will not get anywhere with a yes man in the dugout. Something has got to give.
