OPINION
Manchester United are reportedly lining up a bid worth £15million for Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff, and that has unsurprisingly led to many fans talking on Twitter. The Daily Mail has claimed that Man United will table an offer for the 21-year-old at some point this week and while the bid will include add-ons, it’s not something that supporters are happy with. We have seen young English players go for massive money in recent years. Leicester spent £20million on James Maddison last year despite him never playing in the Premier League and while offering up that cash has since been justified, Longstaff is someone who is more proven in the Premier League. Although he only made nine league appearances last term due to a season-ending injury in March, the Magpies midfielder impressed and proved that he is a strong financial asset that the Tyneside club has. Letting him go for less than £20million would be ridiculous. However some fans expect the tight-fisted Mike Ashley to take the money are run, while others are understandably saying that the player cannot be blamed if he wants to quit the mess at St James’ Park right now.

15 million? Don't mean to nitpick, but I think you spelled Hayden wrong.

I’d be off if I was him and hand in a transfer request. Who in their right mind would want anything to do with our football club at the moment.

That's pennies for a lad of that talent and potential.

He’ll go, and it won’t even be for a big fee in today’s market. Another wasted memento of the sour Ashley era.
