The Bin Zayed Group have completed every aspect required in order to take over at Newcastle United, it has been confirmed.

Capital Radio sports presenter Peter Redding provided the statement on his personal Twitter account on Monday, showing that BZG revealed they have worked diligently in order to complete a deal.

After a meeting with the group, the BZG labelled claims that they haven’t launched a bid or even started the Premier League approval process as untrue.

It was first reported by the Sun in May that Mike Ashley had agreed a £350million deal to sell the Magpies to the Bin Zayed Group.

OPINION

After some long agonising weeks, is this the news that all Newcastle fans were hoping for? Finally, an update, and a pretty good one at that, the BZG Group have come out and delivered a meaningful statement, one that will give Magpies’ fans hope. The fact that they have revealed that they have completed every aspect required will surely mean that it might not be long until the deal is confirmed. That would be the best news possible with the Newcastle squad looking quite bare at this moment in time. Every level of the club is in tatters, with the squad returning to pre-season with no permanent manager and the ownership issues in the air. All fans at St James’ Park will know not to get too excited by this, as with Ashley still at the helm, anything can happen. This should all lead to an interesting week in the North East, with Newcastle surely hoping that this isn’t a statement put out by the group to defend themselves should it all fall through.
