There could be a glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel for Newcastle United fans, who have been subjected to one of the worst summers possible. Mike Ashley is still in charge of the club, and Steve Bruce is on the verge of becoming manager. The Magpies are the only club not to make a Premier League signing so far, but that is set to change with the Daily Mail reporting that Ashley has set aside £36million to complete a deal for Hoffenheim striker Joelinton as early as this week. The Northern Echo then went on to reveal that Bruce has sanctioned a deal for the Brazilian, who could be his first signing. At 22-years-old, the Hoffenheim forward enjoyed a good season in front of goal, being involved in 15 goals in 30 matches. The Brazilian averaged 2 shots per game, with more than half of those being inside the box, highlighting his poaching attributes. Not only that, but the forward also possesses good physicality, winning 2.3 aerial battles on average per game [WhoScored]. Many Newcastle fans took to Twitter to respond to the links, with a lot believing they were too good to be true and instantly rubbished the reports. One fan even responded by saying: “The guy who has no say in transfers has sanctioned a move for a player…”
