“One thing I do know is that the Newcastle fans will be there cheering their team like no other set of supporters can do when the season starts,” Bruce said.
“There’s been talk of a boycott but I firmly believe they will stand by their team. This club has an incredible fan base and I hope I can be the man to keep moving this club forward.”
Bruce also said that his biggest challenge would be winning the Newcastle fans over and that seems like a pretty accurate assessment of the situation judging by the reactions to this interview.
If anything it seems to have hardened the stance of some supporters, and although it’s an issue that’s split the fanbase we think a large number of fans will follow through with the boycott threat.
Here are some of the best reactions to Bruce’s comments:

Ashley and Bruce aren’t taking it seriously. They don’t think it will happen. They think we’ll sit back and accept this shit.

Boycott Arsenal live on TV for the world to see.
Then every home game or televised home game after that.

Then Steve Bruce is as far detached from the fans as Ashley and Co.
Can see what Bruce is trying to do but unfortunately he’s underestimating his own here
