Newcastle United have agreed a fee with Paris Saint-Germain for defender Stanley N’Soki, according to RMC Sport.

The French news outlet claim that the Magpies have agreed to pay £9.9million for the left-back, with the deal including a 20% sell-on clause for any future transfers.

RMC Sport reported on their live blog (28/07 15:27 pm) that Newcastle will now enter negotiations with the 20-year-old.

N’Soki featured 14 times for the French champions last season in both league and cup competitions, with nine of those coming from the starting line-up.

Sky Sports reported on Sunday morning that Newcastle had been joined by Serie A side Lazio to be also holding talks with the young defender.

OPINION

It looks like Newcastle are finally closing in on another signing, with N’Soki definitely a player that will add a new dimension to the Magpies. Should Steve Bruce decide to keep Paul Dummett as a central defender, it will leave the club with Matt Ritchie as another option, with the Scottish international certainly more suited to a more attacking role. At only 20-years-old, N’Soki has a bright future in his career, having featured for Paris Saint-Germain and attracting interest from clubs such as Lazio. The young enforcer averaged 1.7 tackles and 1.5 clearances in defence last season, as well as completing 1.1 dribbles in each outing [WhoScored] – something which proves he is capable in both defending as well as going forward and running at opposition defences. The potential signing of N’Soki would no doubt complete Newcastle’s defensive set-up, and see Bruce switch his attention to more attacking options with only two weeks remaining before the season opener against Arsenal.
