There are many problems with the prospect of Newcastle re-signing their former striker Andy Carroll, and now talkSPORT presenter and Sky Sports News transfer guru Jim White has revealed the biggest issue with this potential move.

The Sun reported last week that new Magpies boss Steve Bruce is considering bringing the free agent striker back to the club in order to bolster his attacking options.

White has the lowdown: “He’s not going to be available for weeks, well into the new season as far I gather,” he told talkSPORT [22/07; 11:50].

“That is the problem, for any prospective taker, they’re going to have to wait a while for Carroll.”

There haven’t been many players over the years as injury prone as the England international, and so it seems bizarre that the Magpies would even consider him.

He missed a big chunk of last season, yet again, for West Ham United, and now it seems he is still suffering with some sort of problem. Clearly it’s going to take time for him to get himself back to 100%, and the Magpies will seemingly have to muddle on with the few attackers they do have until he is available once again.

With that said, do you really want to bring someone into the club who you’re not going to be able to play straight away, first of all, and who history tells us cannot be trusted to stay fit? Plus, when he has played for the Hammers over the past couple of years, he hasn’t exactly set the Premier League on fire, has he?

As mentioned, there are a multitude of problems with this potential move, but White has just underlined the main one. He’s not fit now, likely won’t be able to stay fit in the future, and simply isn’t a productive enough Premier League attacker any more.
