Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden could leave the club with an impressive showing in the Premier League Asia Trophy, according to The Chronicle.

The newspaper claims that the 24-year-old wants to leave the Magpies for personal reasons, but that no offer has yet arrived for him this summer.

However, the Chronicle’s report states that a positive showing at the pre season tournament, which starts on Wednesday, could see rival clubs come in for him with concrete bids.

OPINION

It’s a bit of surprise that no other team has come in with a proper bid for Hayden yet this summer. He was excellent for the Magpies over the second half of last season, solidifying himself as a key player in Rafael Benitez’s side and nailing down the holding midfield position. However, he has made it clear for some time now that he wants to leave the club in order to move closer to his fiancé and young daughter down south. With that said, then, it would be a major surprise if he is wearing a black and white shirt at the start of the new campaign. As of yet, though, nothing has come through for the former Arsenal man, but if he excels in the Asia Trophy, giving suitors a reminder of his considerable talents, then you could well see a rival Premier League team perk up and make an official offer for him. That’s what Hayden will be hoping for, anyway.
