Fiorentina and St. Etienne are in the race to sign Newcastle target and Paris Saint-Germain defender Stanley N’Soki, according to the Chronicle

The regional newspaper claim on their website that the two European clubs are also interested in the 20-year-old defender, who failed to make an impact in Ligue 1 last season.

This comes as RMC Sport reported that Newcastle had agreed a £9.8million fee for the left-back, in a deal that would include a 20% sell-on fee.

Despite a fee reportedly being agreed for N’Soki, Get French Football News revealed that contract talks had not started well and they were set to continue for many hours after the agreement.

OPINION

Newcastle have to be careful with their next moves, with a number of different clubs being quoted as holding an interest in the 20-year-old, who wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer. With Sky Sports reporting that Lazio are also interested in N’Soki, the Magpies need to negotiate hard in the coming days and give the defensive enforcer exactly what he wants or face the consequence of missing out on his services, in a position they are desperate for reinforcements in. Newcastle surely have the advantage in any potential deal, with Steve Bruce reportedly have agreed to a deal to sign N’Soki, and should they fail in contract talks down to poor offers, a number of clubs will be circling to make them regret messing around with offers. As the days go by, more clubs appear to hold an interest in the youngster – and it is only a matter of time before another club agrees a fee and Newcastle are left thinking what could have been next season.
