Newcastle United are to speak to former Colorado Rapids manager Anthony Hudson with them seeking a successor to Rafa Benitez, according to TEAMTalk.
The football outlet claim that the Magpies will interview the highly-rated 38-year-old manager, who is currently unattached after leaving the MLS club.
TEAMTalk report that Newcastle are exploring the possibility of hiring a young head coach with a more experienced sporting director alongside them.

Is the hierarchy at Newcastle having a laugh? They must be if this report is to be believed. While it makes sense to target a young talented manager who can bring stability to St James Park, that shouldn’t lead them to Hudson. The 38-year-old struggled beyond belief near the end of his recent spell at Colorado Rapids as his side were the only winless MLS side left standing by the time Colorado Rapids announced his exit. In fact, New Zealand outlet Stuff suggested that Hudson’s sacking was no surprise in May as he guided the MLS club to just eight wins in 43 outings across his entire time there. While Hudson no doubt deserves another chance in management despite it all going wrong for him, should it really be the Magpies that hand it to him? Managing Newcastle United should be perceived as a step up on being in charge of Colorado Rapids due to them playing in the English Premier League, which is arguably the best division in the world. Also following Benitez at St James Park is set to be no easy task and it will take a top-quality manager to fill his shoes. After all the Spanish boss impressively guided the Magpies to a 10th placed finish in their 2017/18 campaign and to a 13th placed finish in their latest season and based on Hudson’s latest antics, it’s hard to believe he could match that success.
