Newcastle United have to find a way to put Manchester United off pursuing Sean Longstaff as it could soon see other clubs swarm.

According to the Daily Mirror, Manchester United are confident they can clinch a £25million deal to sign the Magpies midfielder this summer even though Longstaff has pledged his future to Rafa Benitez’s side in interviews.

Yet Man United being confident isn’t the only reason Magpies supporters should be worried.

The newspaper’s report states that Manchester United don’t see the uncertainty at Newcastle, resulting from the proposed takeover and Rafa Benitez’s undecided future, as being an obstacle in their pursuit of Longstaff.

When you consider this, it could spell trouble for Newcastle when it comes to keeping their key players this summer.

If uncertainty isn’t putting clubs off, then it’s likely luring them to try and poach the club’s best players as the likes of Ayoze Perez and Jamaal Lascelles would surely rather be at a club whose future was much more easier to predict.

In fact other clubs could take advantage of the uncertainty at St James Park in order to tempt players to join them.

Manchester United clearly are confident about pursuing Longstaff for a reason and it surely is due to them thinking he is available to be poached due to it not being known what state the Magpies will start the season in.

If the Magpies allow Man United to take advantage of their uncertain future and potential lack of manager, then other clubs will soon swarm around them in order to find a player to sign for themselves.

So with that in mind, Newcastle have to do what they can to scare Man United off Longstaff’s scent as it could set a worrying precedent that could soon see the club’s best talent poached from its grasp.
