The Bin Zayed Group need to remain transparent and prepared to prove their funds if they want their Newcastle United takeover bid to progress smoothly, according to journalist Andrew Musgrove.

The Chronicle reporter, writing in a column for the newspaper, claims that the signs over a deal taking place are positive, with the creation of Monochrome Acquisitions Ltd and the links to Pinsent Masons law firm pointers that things are happening behind the scenes.

He goes on to say that with the Premier League’s owner and director test yet to be started, the only way a quick deal is going to be completed is through readiness and honesty, highlighting the variety of timescale other Premier League sides have been sold at.

Opinion

The Bin Zayed Group had best get their skates on if they want to keep the Newcastle faithful happy, with the biggest concern for the Toon Army Rafael Benitez’s contract. With the end of June deadline quickly approaching, they either need to let Mike Ashley agree a deal with the Spaniard and then return to negotiations or push through a deal over the next week and a bit to open talks with the manager themselves. As the Chronicle journalist says, things do look positive but there are so many other things which could go wrong before a deal is done and there will be plenty of people in the north east praying that everyone has the required documents in order. The way the BZG have been talking in the public spectrum, it sounds as they are confident of breezing through the Premier League’s tests. Is that an actual belief they have everything set in place to take the club from Ashley or is it bravado in trying to force the owner’s hand? The waiting is unbearable.
