Newcastle attacker Ayoze Perez will leave the club “except for a big surprise”, according to El Dorsal.
A previous report by Football Insider claimed that the 25-year-old was planning on pushing for an exit from the club, with his potential departure leading to a possible string of further exits.
Spanish publication El Dorsal now claim that it is very likely that Perez will leave for La Liga, with Valencia and Real Betis said to be keen on signing him.
If this report is true, it is very worrying news for Newcastle fans as Perez was one of the Magpies’ players last season. Not only did he score 12 goals and come up with two assists, but there was so much more to his game that the Tyneside club will miss if he is to leave. For example, he made – on average – 1.1 key passes per game in 37 Premier League appearances, and completed more successful dribbles (1.2) per game than unsuccessful ones (0.9) (Source: WhoScored). What’s more, out of an average of 2.8 attempted tackles per league game, Perez won the ball 1.6 times, more than the number of times the opponent kept the ball. Overall, these statistics show that Perez was key not only for his direct goal contributions, and the club will definitely miss him if he does leave. The fact that Perez will leave “except for a surprise” indicates that it could be a formality now that the attacker will leave, which will surely worry Newcastle fans.
