Chronicle journalist Andrew Musgrove has claimed via his personal Twitter account that Rafa Benitez has still not had any assurances from the club over this summer’s transfer business, which is why there is yet to be any clarity over the Spaniard’s future at the club. Understandably there are many Newcastle fans venting their anger on Twitter, mainly at owner Mike Ashley, who is more than likely the man who is at fault for this mess of a situation. Newcastle’s potential takeover is causing issues when it comes to Benitez’s contract too. Why would he pen a new deal for someone who might not be his boss soon? It’s hard for Newcastle fans to know what is going on. It all seems very 50-50 at the moment. Benitez could stay, he could go. Ashley could stay, he could go. No one wants a situation where Benitez goes and Ashley stays, and that is why the fans are so angry with this lack of movement in contract talks. Benitez’s deal expires in two weeks’ time. To leave it this late is ridiculous.
