OPINION
Newcastle United winger Miguel Almiron produced a scintillating performance for his country of Paraguay in their 2-2 Copa America draw with minnows Qatar on Sunday. It was a disappointing result overall for Juan Carlos Osorio’s side, but that wasn’t for a lack of trying on Almiron’s part. The Magpies ace looked extremely exciting and certainly back to full fitness as he marauded through the game at the number 10 position. It’s strange, because Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez has been using him on the left hand side since he signed in January, but perhaps the 25-year-old is at his best through the middle. That’s something to think about for whoever is managing at St James’ Park next term. Almiron was involved in both Paraguay’s goals last night, as well as playing a sensational pass through in the clip shown in some of the tweets below. He was absolutely wonderful. Most of all, though, from a Newcastle perspective, it was simply good to see him back fit and enjoying his football again.
