Jose Mourinho will be willing to talk to Newcastle regarding their manager’s job, only if the Bin Zayed Group complete their takeover, according to the Daily Star.

The newspaper claim that the Portuguese boss is waiting to see whether Mike Ashley sells to the Middle Eastern investors before opening himself to replacing Rafael Benitez.

Ashley is reportedly in the process of selling the club to the billionaires for a reported £350million, with the deal having gone quiet in the previous week.

It was reported by the Mirror that the BZG group were reportedly targeting either Jose Mourinho or Arsene Wenger to take them into the next Premier League campaign.

Benitez’s current contract runs out at the end of June, with Mike Ashley holding meetings with the Spaniard. It was claimed by the Sun that talks with the former Liverpool boss had left Newcastle fearing the worst.

OPINION

This would definitely be a massive move for Newcastle should their takeover be completed before the start of the Premier League. Having said this, many Magpies’ fans will no doubt want Rafael Benitez to stay at the club, with him becoming a cult hero at St James’ Park in his three years at the club. Should the billionaire group manage to complete a takeover, the expectation will rise massively, and the first big move the Bin Zayed Group could face is the future of Benitez, with the wrong move potentially causing an uproar in the North East. The Portuguese boss would definitely be interested in the Newcastle job, with his condition of the takeover being completed meaning he would want a big transfer budget for the challenge at hand. The only downside would be ditching Benitez, and the Spaniard has definitely earned the chance to be given a transfer budget after his three years of tight business at the club.
