Newcastle United midfielder Issac Hayden wishes to leave the club by the start of pre season training on July 4, according to The Chronicle.

The newspaper claims that the 24-year-old, who is on a reported £22,000-per-week [Source: Spotrac], does not want to return for pre season training on Tyneside because he hopes to have left the club by then.

The former Arsenal man handed in a transfer request last summer, because he wants to be closer to his fiancee and daughter in the south west, but remained at St James’ Park.

His future is unlikely to be resolved until manager Rafael Benitez’s is, though, meaning that the Englishman may not get his wish of departing within the next month.

OPINION

Hayden obviously has a date in mind for his potential departure from Newcastle, which is something we didn’t know before. Obviously it’s long been established that the wants to leave the club to be closer to his young family. That’s understandable and, from a human point of view, you hope he gets his wish this summer. From a footballing perspective it would obviously be a big blow for the Magpies to lose a player of his calibre. He’s been a tremendous servant to the club and was one of the team’s better players during the second half of the season, so he’ll be difficult to replace. The problem for him is that Benitez will surely want a replacement for him before he sanctions Hayden’s sale, meaning that he could face a little bit of a wait yet – seeing as the Spaniard is currently scheduled to leave the north east giants at the end of this month.
