COMMENTARY

Many Newcastle fans were blown away by Miguel Almiron after witnessing his latest display on Thursday as he effectively stole the show for Paraguay during their 1-1 draw with Argentina. The 25-year-old attacking midfielder showed off his blistering pace in order to cause Argentina’s defenders troubles and racked up an assist by playing Richard Sanchez through on goal. However, Almiron didn’t just look good going forward but he showed that he was a hard-working player who was willing to track back. One Newcastle fan highlighted this as they raved about the fact the Magpies attacker effectively ran back 60-yards just to take the ball off Lionel Messi. It’s no surprise that Almiron’s latest display had a section of Magpies fans buzzing as not only did he look the real deal, they didn’t get to see what he was truly capable of before the 2018/19 season ended. The 25-year-old arrived at St James Park in January and racked up 10 appearances before his season was prematurely ended due to injury. Almiron had never played in England before so was adapting to the Premier League in his outings, and this saw him only show glimpses of his talent. The attacker wasn’t able to score, assist, or create any big chances (Source: Premier League) in his 10 outings for the Magpies, but next season that surely won’t be the case.
