Jonjo Shelvey was brought into the squad for Newcastle’s fixture away at Craven Cottage against Fulham, and it seems like Rafa Benitez made the right decision in doing so. The 27-year old scored the opening goal in the game after nine minutes, causing Magpies’ fans all around the country to get on social media and make comments regarding the midfielder. Often regarded as a forgotten man this season for Newcastle, Shelvey seems to have been aiming to prove a point in this fixture, and did so in impressive fashion. Scoring only his second ever Premier League goal in a Newcastle shirt came at a good time for the midfielder, as questions over his future at St. James’ Park have never been more prominent. The former Liverpool man made sure to keep Newcastle fans’ attention on the game at Craven Cottage, and not on the title race, with his magnificent goal against Fulham. The Magpies went into the half-time break 2-0 up against Fulham and perhaps Shelvey will help them extend their lead in the second half.
