Newcastle United’s hopes of completing a potential summer move for Liverpool winger Harry Wilson have surely been given a boost by the latest report over his future.

According to a report from the Mirror, Wilson is believed to have decided he wants to depart Liverpool this summer to go and get regular game time and feels he will not get that at Anfield next term, while he is looking to further develop his game with a top flight club next term.

Newcastle have been linked with an interest in making a move for the attacker, with Liverpool thought to have placed a £25million valuation on the Wales international

Wilson is attracting interest from a host of clubs this summer, after an impressive season in the Championship on loan with Derby County, who just missed out on promotion to the Premier League losing 2-1 to Aston Villa in Monday’s play-off final.

The 22-year-old has provided extra attacking quality to Derby this season, with Wilson scoring 16 goals and registering four assists in the Championship this campaign, suggesting that he is ready to be given an opportunity to play at a higher level.

It is not just Wilson’s end product that has been impressive this term, but also his general play with the Welshman averaging 2.6 shots and 1.3 key passes per game [whoscored.com] in the Championship this campaign.

Wilson has also displayed an ability to be composed in possession and pick out the right passes to help his side retain possession, with the winger averaging a 74.7% passing accuracy [whoscored.com] which is impressive for an attacking winger usually receiving the ball high up the pitch.

Those are qualities which Newcastle are in need of adding to their squad during the summer transfer window, with the Magpies only registering 42 goals, with only Brighton out of sides in the bottom half to have stayed up scoring fewer goals.

The latest report that Wilson is looking to leave Liverpool to be given regular game time in the top flight will be a boost to Newcastle’s hopes of signing him, and with the potential of a reported takeover of the club funds could be made available for the Magpies to being in the sort after attacker this summer.
