OPINION

Newcastle United supporters have taken to Twitter to express their thoughts on the potential of Mike Ashley selling the club. The Sun have suggested that Ashley has agreed a £350million deal with Sheikh Khaled Bin Zaid Al Nehayan, who is the cousin of Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour. If Newcastle are sold and under new ownership next season then the club could be set for a huge summer, with the future of Rafa Benitez still unclear with the Spaniard wanting more freedom in the summer transfer window after being restricted in the transfer windows since his arrival at St James’ Park. Newcastle supporters will be hopeful that the club can be sold and that potential new owners are able to put more funds into the club, to allow Benitez to go and strengthen his squad to help the club progress beyond two successive mid-table finishes. For now Newcastle supporters can hope that the sale goes through and the club can begin to move on from the divisive ownership of Ashley.
