Sky Sports reporter Pete Graves has suggested that has had conversations about the proposed Newcastle United takeover that were “bullishly positive”.

The Bin Zayed Group emerged as potential buyers on Tyneside earlier in the week, but nothing concrete has been confirmed by the club as of yet.

But posting on his personal Twitter account, Graves suggested that the signs were positive.

He said: “More quiet but not necessarily a bad thing.

“Still lots of scepticism in certain quarters, but other conversations I’ve had 2nite were bullishly positive. Either someone very resourceful is lying, or it’s happening.

“Fascinating… Frustrating… Keep refreshing.”

OPINION

This will fill Newcastle fans with plenty of hope. The fact of the matter is that we still know nothing, but in the hierarchy of people who know nothing, Graves knows more than most. You do get the impression that the longer this rumbles on, and the longer the Bin Zayed Group maintain that something is afoot, the more likely it is to be happening. That being said, this is Mike Ashely they are dealing with, and if there’s one man capable of blowing a done deal, it is him. For now, all Newcastle fans can do is sit and wait to see what happens, but certainly, the optimism being shown by Graves should be enough to keep the hope flowing at St. James’ Park. Snippets and rumours are always bound to frustrate, but in the absence of any concrete information, it’s the best that fans can hope for at the moment.
