Yoshinori Muto has sent a message to fans following Newcastle’s final day victory over Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday.

The 26-year old came on as a substitute in the Magpies’ final fixture of the season, which was only his 17th appearance in the Premier League this season.

The forward had a message to give the Newcastle faithful after what has proven to be a difficult debut season in English football.

“Thank you very much for your wonderful support throughout the season.” said Muto from his personal Instagram account.

“It was a tough season for me, not reaching expectations. For the next season, I will try my best to contribute to the club with lots of goals. I am really looking forward to seeing the wonderful supporters next season!”

OPINION

Although it hasn’t been the ideal start to life at St. James’ Park for Muto, he has shown some positive signs ahead of the new season even though he hasn’t hit his peak in his debut campaign. The 26-year old did manage to register one goal in the Premier League this season over a total of 17 appearances, however this isn’t enough to warrant a starting eleven spot for the striker next season. Rafa Benitez will be happy that he has different attacking options going forward into the new season, but will no doubt expect a lot more from the Japanese striker. It wasn’t too easy for Muto to get into the squad this season, with Salomon Rondon and Ayoze Perez being in exquisite form for the most part, but he could be called upon in the new campaign and over pre-season, especially considering that Rondon’s future is currently up in the air, with doubts that he will still be a Newcastle player in the summer.
