OPINION
Kanon has been a key figure this season for ADO Den Haag in the Eredivisie, making 30 appearances for the club and registering a single goal and assist respectively along the way. However, for the small price of £3million, he could be worth the risk for Rafa Benitez. It could prove to be a risky move due to the fact that the defender is relatively inexperienced, and is yet to have played at a level similar to that of the Premier League. However, as his parent club are not asking for a price which seems too far-fetched for the Magpies to reach, it may be worth the risk for Benitez, as Kanon could prove to have exactly what it takes to take Newcastle forward defensively. Even if that is not the case, and there is work to be done, providing defensive cover ahead of the new season is another reason for the club to look into this move, as squad depth is definitely an aspect of Newcastle’s game that could be improved on going into the new campaign.
