Salomon Rondon has weaved his way into the hearts of Newcastle United supporters and many are no doubt eager to see him signed from West Bromwich Albion on a permanent basis in the summer.

However Magpies hearts will not break over Rondon even if he’s not signed if a capable forward is quickly brought in to replace him.

Luckily for morale, it seems the club are checking out replacements and have the ideal one in their sights.

According to TEAMtalk the Magpies hierarchy are not keen on paying the necessary £16million to sign Rondon from West Brom and have identified Spartak Moscow forward Ze Luis as a possible player to sign if they miss out on the Venezuelan attacker.

The football outlet claim that the 28-year-old forward is available for £10million and is keen on a move to England.

While Rondon may be a fan favourite and proven himself at St James Park, Magpies fans won’t be overly sad if they miss out on him in favour Ze Luis as he is a talented player.

The 28-year-old has scored 12 goals and assisted four in his 28 outings this season and even has featured in both the Champions League as well as the Europa League during his career.

Ze Luis is capable of unleashing powerful shots from distances, strong in the air, clinical in front of goal and has an eye for the pass which sees him able to set-up teammates.

All these abilities will see him be a success at St James Park if signed and he might even be able to impress fans more than Rondon ever has.

Given that it makes sense the Magpies have doubts about signing Rondon as Ashley is reluctant to sign off on a deal with the forward turning 30 in September, as reported by the Daily Star,  at TEAMtalk’s reported back-up plan will protect Newcastle fans from heartbreak.
