COMMENTARY
Rafa Benitez decided to not start Newcastle United midfielder Jonjo Shelvey against Leicester City on Friday, and many Magpies supporters were left frustrated as a result. Upon the Magpies’ official Twitter account revealing the line-up for the clash with the Foxes, several couldn’t help but notice the midfielder was once against absence. While the 27-year-old midfielder made the bench for the clash, it didn’t seem to be enough to stop fans showing some sort of frustration towards Benitez. Shelvey hasn’t been featuring for the Magpies on a regular basis this season, with injury causing him to slip down the pecking order, but after a couple of impressive cameo appearances, you feel Benitez would have turned to him. However it seems that the midfielder has been given the cold shoulder and as a result you wouldn’t be overly shocked if the player departed in the summer. Shelvey is a talented player who knows he could be in the starting line-up of a lot of Premier League sides.
