Newcastle United will no doubt be on the prowl for several players in this summer’s transfer window after the signing of Miguel Almiron in January.

The signing of the Paraguayan playmaker would have fuelled the Magpies’ ambitions even further, making them determined to make the most of the window coming up, and in order to do that, they must revisit a player that they missed out on signing in January.

That player is Juventus left-back Rogerio, a defender who they enquired about a few months ago according to Football Insider.

The 21-year-old ace is currently out on loan at fellow Serie A side Sassoulo, but he is a defender with bagfuls of potential that Newcastle should make the most of.

Antonio Barreca is currently United’s cover for the left-back role, but he has hardly seen a glimpse of action since he arrived, so it is likely that he will return to Monaco this summer after a rather disappointing loan stint in England.

This means that a vacancy would open up for position, and Rogerio is the perfect candidate to fill it – he clearly is not in Juventus’ plans, so it would make complete sense for them to offload him.

He has been a mainstay in the Sassoulo team this season by racking up 27 appearances, and he would provide ideal competition to the likes of Paul Dummett and even Javier Manquillo.

Rafa Benitez would complete a masterstroke by setting the club’s sights on Rogerio once again. Sometimes finding a second choice is harder than finding a player who would be a starter for the first team, but that search would be made a lot easier if they went back in for the young Brazilian.

Rogerio is no doubt quite the prospect, and Benitez must make the most of this by reigniting Newcastle’s hunt.
