Newcastle United fans will be looking towards this summer’s transfer window with great anticipation after the signing of Miguel Almiron in January.

Adding to their attacking talent will no doubt be high on the list for Rafa Benitez – depending on whether his future is secured – in order to transform the Magpies into a team who can challenge for the Premier League top ten every season.

This means that they should go back in for midfielder Miha Zajc, a player that they were interested in signing in January according to Italian news outlet Calcio Mercato.

Zajc may have ended up moving to Fenerbahce, but this does not mean that Newcastle cannot move for him this summer. The lure of the Premier League is something that they can use to bring the 24-year-old dazzler to the club, and doing so would be a masterstroke by Benitez.

He is excellent in the number ten role, a position that would be of great benefit to the team – he excelled in that role when he played for FC Empoli in Serie A earlier in the season, and having another player who can compete in this position is just what the manager needs.

Newcastle need to improve their depth in this position and Zajc is just the player to provide that. He is an impressive passer of the ball, is pretty good at taking direct free kicks, whilst also being confident enough to take on players in one-on-one situations.

That is the type of player that Newcastle lack – they need someone who can run at defenders and have a real go at them. Currently, Almiron is the only player who can do that, and even he is struggling so far.

Mike Ashley needs to sanction a move for the young ace in the summer, as he is just ideal for the United.
