The uncertainty surrounding Rafael Benitez’s future has been haunting the Newcastle faithful and the list of potential replacements is growing by the day. The story coming out of St James’ Park is that the priority is still signing Benitez to a longer contract amid the fear the Spaniard could leave. Fans have started to become anxious with the wait carrying on while the replacement list is longer every time they glimpse at it. One fan went on to say that two of the potential replacements Genaro Gattuso – linked by Calcio Mercato with the Newcastle job – and Fred Rutten – reported interested by Teamtalk – are ‘not fit to polish his brogues’. Another supporter emphasised the need to keep Benitez in Newcastle in a statement likely echoed by much, if not all, of the Toon Army, by saying “Give him what he wants!”. The outrage would be clear to see if Mike Ashley was to allow the Rafa to leave and the Newcastle faithful are not impressed with the candidates to replace him. Either way the message is clear from the Newcastle faithful, they want one man and that man in Rafael Benitez.
