Kevin Kilbane has slammed Newcastle United for their away form, and has suggested that they will lost to Leicester City on Friday night because of it.

The Magpies are winless in seven on the road going into the clash, and BBC pundit Kilbane believes that it doesn’t bode well for their chances in the Midlands.

Speaking to Boylesports, he said: “Really, really poor form away from home, that’s certainly something that goes against them.

“No wins in seven in the Premier League away from home. Really poor. They’ve lost their last two.

“Poor defeat for them last time out against Crystal Palace, so certainly you couldn’t back Newcastle with any conviction coming into this match.”

OPINION

Kilbane raises some astute points, but the thing about records and stats is that they have to be broken at some point. No wins in seven is pretty shocking from the Toon Army, but realistically does that make then more likely to lose tonight? Probably not. If they do get beat – and that is a very, very real possibility – it will not be because they lost their last seven matches on the road, it will be because they have been bested by a better team on the day. Leicester will be favourites going into this one, but in the middle of the Premier League, of which these two sides represent two ends of a spectrum, there is very little to choose, and while the Foxes will be expecting the win, it wouldn’t be the greatest upset in the world if Newcastle out out a result, especially with their survival still not ensured.
