Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden has seemingly reiterated his desire to the leave the club in the summer.

The £22,000-a-week ace [Spotrac] made clear is intention to move away from Tyneside back in January, as reported by the Chronicle, but was not granted a move and has since become a key player for Rafa Benitez’s side.

But his sudden ascension hasn’t altered his stance any and he shared he had spoken to the club’s hierarchy about his future.

Speaking in the match day programme ahead of the visit from Crystal Palace, as quoted by the Chronicle (13.34), he said: “I think I’ve made very clear to the club’s hierarchy, and the fans, I’ve got my side of the story out, I’ve made it pretty clear how things go.

“I don’t think there will be too many questions.

“I don’t think the summer is going to be an issue, it’s pretty well documented how I feel.”

OPINION

This will come as a big blow for Newcastle United fans who must have been hoping, against their better judgement, that Hayden could be persuaded to stay on at the club beyond the summer. The standard of his performances since forcing his way into Benitez’s plans has been consistently high, and it will be a sore one to lose a player of his quality. The only silver lining you could perhaps take from his determination to leave is that his newfound first team status will probably drive up the asking price for him a decent amount, but even then, they’d much rather keep him than have to find a replacement. Ir is testament to his character, however, that he has remained professional and committed to his current club when they have needed him most. Hayden will have turned a fair few heads so far this season, and if he keeps it up, he could be on the cusp of a very big move indeed.
