Isaac Hayden has been involved in a controversial contract saga this season to say the least. After telling the club he wants to leave, he has been given a consistent role in the heart of the midfield and excelled in every game. His partnership with Sean Longstaff was flourishing before the youngster was ruled out for the season and Hayden has taken more responsibility with whoever has partnered him. Newcastle have been on a good run of late and went into Saturdays clash with Brighton on the back of a two game win streak and their form continued into the game. The Magpies went into half time one goal to the good and Hayden played a pivotal role in nullifying any potential threat Brighton possessed. Fans were quick to appreciate the 24-year-olds battling performance and begged for the former Arsenal man to stay at the club. “Utterly outstanding out there today so far, developed into one of the most dynamic defensive midfielders in the league. Don’t leave!”
