OPINION
Andy Carroll is going to be available for free in the summer transfer window after it was reported by the Daily Mail that he will be released by West Ham at the end of his contract. And for some reason for which we cannot fathom, some Newcastle supporters have taken to Twitter to urge the Tyneside club to re-sign the injury-prone target man. There is one condition that these members of the Toon Army want to be met if Carroll returns to Tyneside, and that is for him to have a “pay as you play” contract. Carroll has had to undergo surgery on an ankle injury that has ended his season. He has appeared just 14 times for the Hammers this term due to multiple injury issues and even though a pay as you play deal would be sensible, it would be a much better and less-risky idea for Newcastle to just promote someone like Elias Sorensen or sign Salomon Rondon permanently. Mike Ashley does not appear to like the idea of signing someone entering their 30s like Rondon, even though he is a proven performer in the North-East. So why would Ashley be happy to pay the wages of a 30-year-old player who has had more injuries than goals this season?

I’d take Andy Carroll back to @NUFC if we could get him on a sensible contract.

Yes. On a reduced wage with enhanced on appearances. Even he would accept that after this season !

I'd snap his hand off. As long as it's a pay as you play contract. He didn't get in to the England squad and score because they liked his ponytail!

I'd have him on a pay as you play basis. Way better than Joselu when he is fit and on form
