OPINION
Newcastle United attacker Ayoze Perez produced a superb performance in the first half of his team’s clash against Southampton on Saturday. The headline is his terrific brace that seems to have taken the game away from the visitors at St James’ Park, but his overall display was tremendous as well. He works so hard, but he’s also vastly improved his strength. We saw that in the first half here, where he held of challenges that would have felled him in the past. His connection with striker Salomon Rondon is absolutely crucial to Newcastle’s success and that was very much demonstrated on Saturday. The Saints couldn’t cope with him. Perez was lively from start to finish and seems to be really enjoying his football at the moment. There’s no doubt that he is the Magpies’s most in-form player at the moment and is undroppable for Rafael Benitez at this moment in time.
