OPINION

Newcastle United winger Miguel Almiron went down with what looked to be a hamstring injury during his team’s 3-1 win over Southampton on Saturday. The Paraguay international was in tears as he hobbled straight down the tunnel having been substituted off mid way through the second half. He’d been pulled back by the much slower Oriol Romeu as he tore away down the left hand side and immediately started clutching his hamstring. The big problem for the Magpies is that Fabian Schar went off injured shortly after, while Isaac Hayden went straight down the tunnel after coming off as well – never a good sign. It’s the loss of the club record signing that has most upset supporters, though. The 25-year-old was playing some outstanding stuff and looked very dangerous against the Saints. That’s likely the reason for the rough treatment he received from the visitors at St James’ Park. All the Toon Army can do now is hope and pray that Almiron’s season isn’t actually over as they seem to fear.
