COMMENTARY

Poor Paul Lambert as it seems many Newcastle United fans have a good memory. The 49-year-old manager has had a terrible time at Ipswich Town since taking over and on Saturday, his side were condemn to relegation after drawing 1-1 with Birmingham City. While that was bad enough for Lambert, it seems Magpies supporters were intent on adding a little salt to his wound. This is because Lambert when working as a pundit on beIN SPORTS appeared to slam Toon boss Rafa Benitez for his defensive style when facing Chelsea in August. In fact the broadcaster uploaded a clip of his remarks at the time to their Twitter account, and several Magpies fans proceeded to take a cheeky dig at the boss by resurrecting the old tweet to highlight how Ipswich had just been relegated. One even angrily pointed out that Lambert shouldn’t think about giving Benitez any tactical advice in the near future as clearly the Spanish boss doesn’t need his help.
