Geordie entertainment legends Ant and Dec have urged Newcastle United to hand Rafael Benitez a new contract after Friday’s win over Leicester City.
The I’m a Celebrity presenters are well-known Newcastle fans, and they clearly believe that the Magpies must secure Benitez’s future with his current deal set to run out at the end of the season.
“Great result for Newcastle,” they wrote on their personal Twitter account.
“Fantastic work from all the lads and of course Rafael Benitez. Now sign him up!!,” they finished.

Ant and Dec are surely echoing the thoughts of the entire Newcastle fanbase, here. There are unlikely to be many Magpies fans who aren’t hoping that Benitez signs a contract extension as quickly as possible. It was a fantastic win for Benitez’s team over an in-form Leicester side on Friday and it demonstrated how important the Spaniard is to this Newcastle team. He out-thought Brendan Rodgers and cooked up a tactical approach that ensured the Magpies went home with all three points on Friday. If you don’t believe that Benitez deserves an extension after that game then you never will. The manager is a key figure at St James Park and losing him would be unthinkable. Just think of where this squad would be without him. If they had virtually any other manager then they would be constantly battling relegation and possibly sinking down to the Championship. Under Benitez, though, they are an established Premier League side. Ant and Dec are right, it’s imperative that the club sign him up as quickly as they can.
