OPINION

Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez is expected to recall defenders Federico Fernandez and Paul Dummett for his team’s trip to Bournemouth on Saturday.

Centre backs Fabian Schar and Jamaal Lascelles are both expected to miss the Cherries clash, one through suspension and the other due to injury, and so Fernandez and Dummett will likely start at the Vitality Stadium.

Those will likely be the only changes made by Benitez, with the game coming hot on the heels of the Magpies’ magnificent come-from-behind victory over Everton last time out.

Goalkeeper Martin Dubravka was largely back on form against the Toffees after a couple of mistakes recently, and he will almost certainly start as a result.

As mentioned, there will likely be a significant reshuffle in the centre of defence. Benitez is expected to maintain his three man backline, but Fernandez and 27-year-old Dummett will surely come in for Schar and Lascelles.

Wing backs DeAndre Yedlin and Matt Ritchie are fairly secure in their places at this moment in time, despite the American missing out for Javier Manquillo a couple of times recently. The two players can expect to start once again here.

Isaac Hayden and Ki Sung-yueng started last time out and will likely do the same here. Jonjo Shelvey made a nice impact off the bench against Everton, but Benitez will probably take a cautious approach to his comeback from injury.

Up front, the Magpies appear to have found their recipe for success. Ayoze Perez and Miguel Almiron will surely start once again in support of frontman Salomon Rondon.
