Many Newcastle United fans are no doubt waiting in trepidation over how the club is going to conduct themselves in the next transfer window.
Will they spend, or won’t they?
A few areas of the pitch need to be strengthened, that is an absolute must, and one of those positions is the central midfield.
Sean Longstaff, Isaac Hayden, Ki sung-yueng and Jonjo Shelvey already occupy this area, and it is safe to say that a handful of them are doing a sterling job of keeping things going. However, we all know that Hayden wants to move, and we all know that Shelvey is not at his best anymore.
This means that the need for a midfielder is paramount, and they should look no further than Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare. He is currently being hunted by Tottenham according to Foot Mercato, and the Magpies would be wise to join the chase.
The 20-year-old has been compared to the likes of Manchester United and World Cup star Paul Pogba, and that is no doubt quite an exciting claim for Newcastle. To have a player on the books who is similiar to him will have their fans drooling.
He would be a good long-term signing for the Magpies, and if Longstaff can make it at the age of 21, there is no reason why Soumare cannot do the same being a year younger. The young dazzler clearly has bagfuls of potential if Spurs are chasing him, and Newcastle must the the ones to take advantage of this situation.
There is the slight chance that he may be on the move this summer due to his current deal running out next year, so the Magpies need to be wary of other clubs who are interested and may make a bid for him.
Either way, the Newcastle fans will surely roar if Mike Ashley sanctions a move for the youngster.
