Newcastle must offload Aarons permanently

It has been quite the whirlwind for on-loan Newcastle United winger Rolando Aarons this season. Three clubs in one season is quite the record when you think about it.

He spent the first half of the season on loan at Czech side Slovan Liberec from the Magpies, and now he is on loan at Championship side Sheffield Wednesday, where he has been going from strength to strength.

The 23-year-old has only scored one goal since he joined the Owls in the January transfer window, but his performances have suggested that his overall form has greatly improved. Not improved enough to warrant a return to Newcastle – but definitely enough to warrant a permanent switch to Wednesday this summer.

He must accept that his career on Tyneside is dead and buried – it is as simple as that. Him returning to the club would be completely pointless, and he needs to move somewhere where he is guaranteed more game time. Under Steve Bruce, that is a given.

Aarons is at the stage in his career where he needs regular playing time to improve. Currently, he is not of Premier League standard, but it is safe to say that playing in the second division is showcasing him at his best.

Newcastle must make the most of the good form that he is in and offload him permanently in the summer. If he is able to maintain it, then Bruce will no doubt want to keep him on beyond his loan spell and other Championship clubs will no doubt be keen. That would then be a win-win situation for everyone involved.

The Magpies must now hope and pray that Aarons can keep this up until the end of the campaign. They need to get him off the books, as his wages are an extra cost that they do not need.

Given that the Magpies would have faced a struggled getting the winger off their books previously, now that he is impressing in the Championship, they should act quickly to part with him, as they could get a marvellous deal done that they didn’t think was possible before.
