Joselu is not a name that bears many good memories for Newcastle United fans, not least this season.

The 28-year-old has only managed three goals in 20 appearances for the Magpies in this campaign, so it is safe to say that he will mostly be remembered for the wrong reasons.

Many supporters are no doubt howling that Rafa Benitez opted to play him at the start of the season, instead of playing Salomon Rondon.

Benitez obviously came to his senses and began to use Rondon on a more regular basis, a decision which has reaped benefits for him. This means that the woeful Joselu was pushed to the bottom of the pile, and rightly so.

He is simply not good enough for the Premier League anymore – that is a given. This is why he must be loaned out to save his career, otherwise it could be in tatters by remaining on Tyneside.

The Spaniard must recognise that his chances of getting minutes are growing ever more limited with every week that passes where he is not playing. He must be craving to get out on the pitch, and who can blame him?

Loaning him out is the best option Newcastle could take this summer – as the only way they will sell him is for near-to-nothing. The 6ft 4in [Transfermarkt] giant centre-forward would thrive at a club in the Championship, and we would certainly witness a better version of Joselu as a result.

If he managed to impress at his loan club, then there is always the possibility of offloading him permanently for more money, a situation which would be win-win for everyone involved.

What is abundantly clear though, is that things just are not working for him at Newcastle. The faster he is loaned out in the summer, the better it will be for him in the long-run.

You know what to do, Benitez.
