Hull City striker Jarrod Bowen was hot property in the last transfer window, there is no doubt about that.

According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle United were keen on the 22-year-old, while Premier League rivals Brighton and Championship high flyers Leeds United were also interested.

He has scored a staggering 18 goals so far this season, which is a remarkable record for a winger and with these kind of numbers, the Magpies would be mad not to swoop for him.

Bowen is clearly a player who needs to make the step up to the top flight, so it must be up to Newcastle to take him there by reigniting their hunt.

Once the summer window opens, many other clubs will no doubt come sniffing for the goal machine. With a goal tally like that, who can blame them? A forward who is capable of scoring as many goals as that during one season is likely to be able to replicate it in any league they join.

If Newcastle end up securing a permanent deal for forward Salomon Rondon, he will certainly need somebody else to share the burden with. As good as Rondon is, he cannot be relied upon to deliver all the goods for the team. However, with a player like Bowen playing alongside him, those fears would soon be alleviated.

Just imagine the reaction of the Newcastle fans if the club managed to secure a signing like Bowen. They would drool if the dazzler came through the doors at St James’ Park, and it would be a huge statement of intent – a sige the club are moving in the right direction in terms of transfers.

Hull may take some tempting to part ways with one of their prized assets, and Newcastle may have to do a lot of convincing. If Mike Ashley succeeds though, it will definitely end up proving dividends.
