OPINION
Is there anything that Salomon Rondon can’t do right now? Newcastle United’s on-loan striker has been on fire in the Premier League lately, and on Friday he extended that form into international football with a superb goal to put Venezuela 1-0 up against an Argentina side featuring Lionel Messi. Understandably, many Newcastle fans were blown away by their target man after he placed a neat finish past the Argentine goalkeeper, and it just shows how important it is that Mike Ashley funds a permanent move for the West Brom player in the summer. The Baggies’ board must be licking their lips over Rondon’s form at the minute, and this goal against Argentina is only going to see his value go higher and higher, provided his reported release clause is not active in the summer window. No matter what happens with West Brom, Newcastle need to bid for Rondon. He’s one of the best strikers they had had in a long time.
