Many Newcastle United fans were no doubt in awe when the club secured the signing of Miguel Almiron in January.

He was a player that they had been keeping tabs on for a while, with speculation rife about where his next destination was going to be. Well, the 25-year-old chose Tyneside, and the supporters have surely been in dreamland ever since.

However, that no doubt changed in an instant when they saw Almiron in action for Paraguay in their 3-0 loss to Mexico recently. He got sent off for a terrible challenge on one of the opponents’ players, which included him stamping on the player’s calf

There is no excuse for this type of behaviour is there? Almiron certainly did not strike any one as the player who can lose his temper easily in the heat of the moment. Either way, this does not bode well for his return to Newcastle.

Rafa Benitez will surely be fuming with the playmaker for his decision making that evening.

What’s more, he is probably fearing that Almiron will translate this type of behaviour onto the pitch for Newcastle. Seeing as he is one of Newcastle’s most creative players, this is one thing he cannot afford to happen in the sesson run-in.

Almiron risks losing the trust of Benitez if this is the type of behaviour that he exhibits. This rashness will get him into trouble a lot of the time, something which Newcastle really do not need. In essence, they did not fork out a club record fee for a player who has a hot head.

He needs to start reining it in before it is too late, as he does not want to get on the wrong side of the Newcastle supporters not long into his time with the club.
