Newcastle United striker Salomon Rondon produced another fine performance in his team’s 2-2 draw at Bournemouth on Saturday. The West Bromwich Albion loanee has been a huge hit on Tyneside and it would now be a major surprise if the Magpies don’t sign him permanently in the summer – in fact there may well be uproar amongst the club’s supporters. The 29-year-old scored a tremendous curling free kick to put his side ahead just before half time at the Vitality Stadium. It was a truly excellent free kick, dipping and curling past Cherries goalkeeper Artur Boruc. When you think of Rondon you tend to think of a burly frontman holding the ball up and occupying defenders, which he of course does very well. You don’t tend to picture the magnificent free kicks that he is capable of  at surprisingly regular intervals. He produced another one today and it was certainly the highlight of what was a battling encounter on the south coast.
