Newcastle United are keen on Hoffenheim attacker Joelinton, according to The People.

The national newspaper’s print edition (Sunday March 24th, page 47) claims that the Magpies are interested in the Brazilian who has been involved in 20 goals in 32 outings this season, but not at £40million.

The People report that Rafa Benitez’s scouts have not been convinced that 22-year-old Joelinton would repay the price they’ve been quoted

OPINION

This transfer report is Newcastle in a nut shell. The Magpies are keen on a forward who would drastically boost their side’s current firepower but are put off by his price tag. Joelinton has scored 11 goal, while registering nine assists, this season in his 32 outings and would be a tremendous signing if made. However it’s understandable why this deal is unlikely as both teams involved are unlikely to change their stance. The Magpies don’t look like being a team who’d splash £40million on one player as it stands and the Bundesliga club aren’t going to sell one of their most talented players on the cheap. Given Joelinton’s age and his goalscoring record this season then they’re more than entitled to demand £40million for his services. While many Magpies supporters will groan that the club won’t shell out the cash for Joelinton, it would be a bit of gamble to spend £40million on player whose not proven in English football.
