Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka should be fully fit for his team’s visit to Arsenal on Monday, according to The Chronicle.

The newspaper claims that the 30-year-old will be available to face off against the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium, despite concerns emerging about his fitness on Sunday.

The Slovakia international looked to be struggling with an ankle injury during his country’s 1-0 defeat to Wales in Cardiff, but it is understood that the setback isn’t a serious one.

OPINION

This is majorly positive news for Newcastle. There were, understandably, some concerns for eagle-eyed Newcastle fans watching the Wales v Slovakia game on Sunday as the Magpies number one appeared to struggle throughout with some sort of problem. It wasn’t serious, he obviously played the entirety of the game, but you could tell that he was slightly uncomfortable. He wasn’t 100%, that’s for sure. So it would have been natural for the Newcastle supporters to worry that he could be out of Monday’s trip to Arsenal as a consequence, but it doesn’t seem like he’s a doubt at all for the game. That’s fantastic news for Rafael Benitez, because back up stopper Karl Darlow simply isn’t the same calibre of player as the Slovakian. He’s a decent number two and he has some experience of Premier League football, but Dubravka is very much the main man on Tyneside these days.
