Mick Quinn has drooled over Newcastle United duo Sean Longstaff and Miguel Almiron after their displays in the 2-0 win against Burnley at St James’ Park on Tuesday.

The Magpies secured yet another three points courtesy of goals from Fabian Schar and Longstaff, a result which now means that they sit in 13th place in the Premier League on 31 points.

Quinn raved about how the two players have offered the team something different since they were introduced into the side, meaning that the supporters have something to be optimistic about for once.

“It’s fantastic for the fans things look so positive at Newcastle for a change another three big Premier League points and Almiron and Longstaff give the team another dimension,” he said on his personal Twitter account.

OPINION

There is not much more you can say about the likes of Longstaff, are there? Almost everyone has used every positive adjective under the sun when talking about his displays, and his recent one against Burnley – which resulted in a goal – has only reinforced why he is so highly spoken about all the time. It is staggering to think that he was thrown into the team due to the number of absences in the midfield, as now he is essentially keeping those players out of the starting XI. Quinn is right – he does give the team another dimension, and this is something that they have been longing for all season. As for Almiron, he was incredible on Tuesday night. He was everywhere on the pitch and he really caused Burnley some problems when he went forward. With these two players in the team, it is hard to imagine Newcastle lacking that extra quality.
