Former England international Jamie Redknapp has included Newcastle United winger Miguel Almiron in his Premier League Team of the Week in the Daily Mail.

The Paraguay international was superb on his full debut for the Magpies as they eased to a 2-0 victory over Huddersfield Town at St James’ Park on Saturday.

The likes of Liverpool duo Alisson and Virgil Van Dijk, Manchester United star Luke Shaw and Manchester City talisman Bernardo Silva were also included in Redknapp’s team.

OPINION

This is a well deserved honour for Almiron after he shone in front of the partisan Newcastle crowd on Saturday. The former Atlanta United man was absolutely superb as Rafael Benitez’s side claimed a comfortable, and much-needed, victory over the Terriers. Almiron was at the heart of their strong performance and was seemingly involved in everything positive that his team did on Saturday. He hit the woodwork but was also looking to create throughout, making life easy for his team mates and frustratingly difficult for the opposition. It must have been like heaven for Salomon Rondon to have someone in behind him who was able to create opportunities and help him out a bit. Almiron did that and then some, and he deserved the massive ovation he got when the was substituted in the second half. If this was a sign of things to come then the Newcastle fans should be extremely excited for what the Paraguayan has in store for them.
