It is surprising that some Newcastle fans are over the moon with Jacob Murphy’s display for West Brom in the 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest on Tuesday. He was having a shocker until he scored in the 54th minute for the Baggies, so you can argue that it was his goal that changed the supporters’ minds about him. One fan has called for the Magpies to recall him after his goal, and to be honest, that is a little premature considering he was not even that great on Tuesday. Another supporter tweeted how the 23-year-old has found his level as a player, which again is only because of the goal he scored. If he had not helped West Brom earn a point, then he would have been slated left, right and centre. He needs to do a lot better in order to justify these comments, because to be honest, they do flatter his performance slightly.
